The work in this section is taken from two solo exhibitions. Both collections were informed by my immediate environment at that time. While painting No.s 1-17, I was working as an artist and illustrator in the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin. In these pieces I am exploring and enjoying the rich exuberant display of colour and form in the
flowers around me. No.s 18 – 40 were created in North West Donegal. Here I am referring to some of the many and varied beliefs held by people over the ages which affect how we see and understand our landscape. What we look at and what we see, are certainly affected by what we know or believe.
